Story & Activities

Tony is a Diabetes Ambassador and Activist with over 20 years of experience raising awareness of type 2 diabetes, healthy lifestyles, and health inequalities in the UK and internationally. He began his advocacy after joining the National Diabetes Prevention Programme as a Strategic Patient Partner, a role that evolved into his current position as Diabetes Ambassador.

Tony delivers community workshops, media interviews, and health campaigns, averaging over 140 diabetes engagements annually. He has been featured on BBC2, Caribbean radio, and in healthy lifestyle videos, sharing his positive approach to managing diabetes. He has delivered awareness sessions in Dominica, Belize, St. Lucia, Jamaica, Barbados, and Canada, and actively promotes preventive health practices such as prostate cancer awareness.

He serves as a Patient & Public Involvement (PPI) representative with multiple universities and research projects, including the University of Birmingham, Leicester University, University of Oxford, and Aston University, and has co-authored publications on COVID-19 immunology research.

Tony is also a prolific editor and contributor to health and social impact publications and podcasts. His awards and honours include the British Empire Medal (BEM), Lifetime Achievement awards for diabetes awareness, and an Honorary Doctor of Science degree from Warwick University. He is celebrated for his pro-social modelling and tireless commitment to improving community health outcomes.
