In the 1980s, Siobhan supported the School of Continuing Education in delivering equality and diversity training for Birmingham magistrates. In the 1990s she became the project lead for the Birmingham Black Oral History Project and, since, as a trustee of the Black History Foundation, has managed Birmingham’s Black History Month. As a senior manager at Birmingham City Council, she was elected Chair of the Black Workers Group, pressing for change in unequal pay and support for Black staff.
For more than 20 years, she has worked closely with charities and social enterprises to improve and diversify their income generation streams, with a focus on Black women-led and marginalised communities. Siobhan has a degree in social policy and a Master’s in Urban Regeneration.
She is the founder of Shakti Women, an organisation dedicated to business, professional and personal growth. She is an active member of the Green Party.
When asked about what an anti-racist city looks like to her, Siobhan says:
“To me, an anti-racist city is one where every young Black child can expect to be protected and supported by the institutions of justice in our society.”
