Story & Activities

Rob Horsfield is a British activist known for anti-war, anti-racist, and workers’ rights movements across the UK, with a strong focus on grassroots organising in Birmingham. As a key figure within the Stop the War Coalition, Horsfield has been instrumental in coordinating protests, public meetings, and campaigns that challenge military interventions and advocate for peaceful solutions to international conflicts. His activism is closely aligned with his contributions to Counterfire, a revolutionary socialist organization, where he regularly provides analysis and articles that critique imperialism, capitalism, and systemic racism.

Horsfield’s work extends beyond anti-war activism to include vigorous opposition to far-right groups and ideologies, emphasizing the interconnectedness of racism and militarism. In late 2024, he was active in organizing counter-protests in Birmingham against far-right events, highlighting the threat posed by extremist movements to social cohesion and justice. He also vocally condemns Islamophobia, linking it to the consequences of UK and US-led wars abroad, a message he powerfully delivered at a demonstration supporting Palestine in November 2024.

Beyond political protest, Horsfield supports labour struggles and workers’ rights, as exemplified by his advocacy for the Birmingham bin workers during their 2025 strike. His writings on the strike framed it as a vital battle for fair working conditions and public services, reinforcing his commitment to social and economic justice at the local level.

In September 2025, Horsfield was a featured speaker at a “Peace Not War” event organised by the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) in Birmingham, further underlining his dedication to anti-nuclear activism and the broader peace movement. Through a combination of grassroots activism, public speaking, and written analysis, Rob Horsfield continues to be a prominent voice in campaigns striving for a just, peaceful, and equitable society.

When asked about the roots of racism, Rob says:

“They say that history is like a nightmare on the brains of the living. Racism comes from our history of empire, class inequality, and oppression. We have to be free from that history.”
